Physical Therapy Services
AQUATICS THERAPY
A low-impact option for joint pain, arthritis, chronic pain, post-surgical rehab, sport-related injuries and numerous other conditions. Aquatic therapy is lower impact than therapy on dry land. VTPT has paired with the YMCA of Burlington and has complete access to their indoor aquatic facilities.
Balance and Gait Training
“Proprioception” is the ability to sense where your limbs are oriented in space. Balance and gait are part of our proprioceptive system and can be retrained to function more normally, just like our muscles can. VTPT therapists assess balance and gait limitations and can provide specific programs tailored to meet individual patient needs.
Cupping Therapy
The application of cups with a suction force applied to lift tissues away from the body to decompress restricted areas, improve blood flow, and stimulate the natural healing process.
Dry Needling

GRASTON TECHNIQUE
Using stainless steel instruments, therapists can detect and treat areas of the body to reduce pain and increase range of motion, helping the patient to achieve a speedier recovery.
Functional Range CONDITIONING
A comprehensive joint training system designed to increase mobility, strengthen joints, and improve the function of the nervous system.
Manual Techniques
VTPT therapists are trained in a variety of hands on techniques to help relieve pain. Myofascial Release, trigger point work, Kinesiotaping, traction and lymphatic drainage work are all in our therapists’ repertoires and can make a substantial difference in patient’s healing experience.
Orthotics
Orthotics help patients achieve a natural alignment of the foot and ankle which then allow for the knees, hips, pelvis and spine to function in a neutral position. This neutral position is key to avoiding excessive stress on your muscles and joints and helps you avoid injury. VTPT offers custom-made orthotics tailored to your feet – an excellent option for those with plantar fasciitis, tendonitis or ankle injuries.
Pre/Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
The better your body is prepared prior to surgery, the better your post-surgical outcome tends to be. PT before surgery helps to strengthen the muscles and soft tissues around the injury site, resulting in a less complicated recovery after surgery. Regardless of whether you are in a program prior to your surgery, post-surgical rehab is a key element to easing you back into safe and comfortable movement and function.
POstural restoration
PRI considers that the body is inherently NOT symmetrical: our neurological, respiratory, circulatory, muscular, and vision systems are not equal left to right and because of this, the body has to find ways to balance our systems. However, asymmetry can lead to imbalances and weakness over time. PRI identifies and treats these imbalances in an individualized, wholesome manner to improve function and efficiency and reduce pain and injury.
Sports Rehabilitation
Whatever your injury, it’s important that you know how it happened and how to avoid it happening again. Studies have repeatedly shown that once a body region is compromised by injury, re-injury of that area is statistically much more likely. Some common injuries we have extensive knowledge in treating include:
ACL, MCL, PCL and meniscus tears
Patellofemoral syndrome
Hip flexor strain
Hamstring strain
Plantar fasciitis
Tennis elbow
Ankle sprain
Shin splints
With our unlimited access to the YMCA of Burlington’s high quality gym facilities, VTPT can help you avoid chronic, persisting injuries whether you’re a hardcore athlete or a weekend warrior.
TMJ/TMD Treatment
The Tempo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) is a common area of pain and dysfunction. Poor postural alignment, stress and trauma can all contribute to jaw pain and dysfunction. Treatment of TMJ issues also focuses on the neck pain and headaches that often accompany poor function in this area.
